Idea 1. So did you ever see Alan turn up at a wedding with a beautifully wrapped present? We don't mind if you follow that lead and just take coming to join us as your gift to us.

Idea 2. A few people have expressed a real need to get us something, and we don't want to upset anyone, so two thoughts come to our generous minds...

There will be ten of us in that house - we really don't need any more stuff in there!

We are going on a honeymoon and Alan has been bluffing a bit about being able to afford it. So if he got a text while away to tell him a few people had passed some money to one of Alan's Groomsmen, he would be quietly relieved. The Groomsmen take cash or cheques, but sorry no credit cards unless you are willing to leave the card and your PIN with them for a week.

(Useful tip for other weddings. Alan has found that you can create vouchers for almost all weddings by taking ten pound notes and writing the word voucher on the top, preceded by the name of the company hosting the wedding list.)
